The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) , is a widely recognized English proficiency exam accepted by numerous universities, professional associations, immigration authorities, scholarship providers, and institutions in 150 countries globally.
This test, primarily administered by the non-profit organization ETS (Educational Testing Service), assesses the language skills of non-native English speakers, measuring their ability to use and comprehend English in academic environments, encompassing both spoken and written language. The TOEFL iBT, where iBT stands for Internet Based Test, is the most commonly used format of the exam, and candidates are allowed to take it multiple times, with a minimum 12-day gap between attempts. It is available at over 4,500 test centers spanning more than 165 countries worldwide.

Exam Pattern
- Listening Section (41 – 57 mins) : 3 – 4 lectures, 6 questions per lecture 2 – 3 conversations, 5 questions per conversation.
- Reading Section (54 –72 mins) : 3 – 4 reading passages, 700 words long 10 questions per passage.
- Writing Section (50 mins) : 2 tasks of writing essay responses based on reading and listening.
- Speaking (17 mins) : 1 independent and 3 integrated speaking tasks about a familiar topic and discussing material that you read & listened to.
- Total Scores : TOEFL scores are out of 120 points.
- Total Time: : 2 hours.
